ILGA Dashboard's Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why should I register on the ILGA Dashboard?

A.

Registering on the ILGA Dashboard allows you to:
  • Save all of your user information such as name, address, phone number, email, business and representation, eliminating the need to re-enter on each witness slip.
  • Create a witness slip in just a few clicks.
  • View all of your witness slips filed for each chamber for the current GA.
  • Filter and sort by committee name, date/time and legislation number.
  • Update user information, testimony and positions on filed witness slips.

Q. Can I make changes to a witness slip I already submitted?

A.

Yes and No

Yes - If you are a registered user and were logged on when you submitted the witness slip, you can make changes. Log on to the ILGA Dashboard, and your witness slip will be located under "Manage Slips".

No - If you were not a registered user or not logged on when submitting your slip, you will not be able to change any information on your submitted witness slip.


Q. Can a witness slip be deleted?

A.

No. Even if you are a registered user and logged on, you still cannot delete a witness slip.

Q. How long do I have to submit a witness slip or update an existing witness slip?

A.

Senate - allows you to submit a witness slip up to the end of the day of the committee hearing's scheduled date.

A.

House - allows you to submit a witness slip up to the conclusion of the committee hearing.

Q. If my legislation was not called in the committee hearing but reposted for another day,

does my witness slip stay with it?

A.

No. You will have to submit a new witness slip for the new posting date.

Q. My committee hearing was posted to start at 1:00 pm but didn't start until 2:45 pm of the

same day. Do I have to submit another witness slip?

A.

No. Your witness slip will stay with your piece of legislation in the same posted hearing on the same day.

Q. If my committee hearing was postponed to a different time or date, does my witness

slip stay with my piece of legislation?

A.

Yes and No.

Yes - If the piece of legislation is heard in a continuation of the same posted committee hearing, your witness slip will remain associated with that piece of legislation.

No - If the piece of legislation is heard in a reposted committee hearing, you will have to submit a new witness slip for the new posting date.


Q. My bill is posted twice within the same week. Is one witness slip enough for

both committee hearings since it’s the same bill?

A.

No. You will need to submit a witness slip for each committee hearing posted.

Q. How soon, once a committee hearing is posted, can someone submit a witness slip?

A.

You may submit a witness slip right away. As soon as you can see it, it's available.

Q. Are there any rules for my ILGA Dashboard account password?

A.

Passwords are required to be a minimum of 6 characters in length and are case sensitive.

Q. I have tried my password 3 times and can't log in. What do I do now?

A.

Call 1-217-782-3944 to have staff unlock your account. Once unlocked, you can click "Forgot Password" to start the new password process.

Q. I registered on the ILGA Dashboard but didn't receive a verification email. I can't get into

the Dashboard. What is wrong?

A.

You may have registered, but the verification wasn't completed. Call 1-217-782-3944 to have staff reset your account. Once this is done, log on and fill in your profile information.

Q. I registered previously but didn't verify my email. I can't get into the Dashboard. What is

wrong?

A.

You may have registered, but the verification wasn't completed. Call 1-217-782-3944 to have your account reset. Once reset, log on and fill in your profile information.

Q. Is there a way to electronically upload documents for "Written Statements"?

A.

No. You may bring hard copy documents to the committee hearing. If you are not able to attend the hearing:
  • Senate - you may contact the committee chairperson to find out the best way to submit material.
  • House - you may fax your material to the Committee Clerk's fax number: 1-217-557-2165 or mail to: Illinois State House, Room 426, 401 S. Second Street, Spfld, IL 62706

Q. In section "III. Position" of the witness slip, what does Proponent mean?

A.

Proponent means: one who is in favor of the piece of legislation.

Q. In section "III. Position" of the witness slip, what does Opponent mean?

A.

Opponent means: one who is against the piece of legislation.

Q. I cannot read the CAPTCHA text. How do I submit my witness slip?

A.

There is a refresh icon to the right of the CAPTCHA text box. Refresh Image Click the refresh icon to get new CAPTCHA" text.

Q. How do I avoid CAPTCHA text?

A.

CAPTCHA text is used on witness slips being entered by unregistered users or users that are not logged on. When you become a registered user and log on to the ILGA Dashboard, the CAPTCHA text is no longer necessary when adding witness slips.
