AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding Section 143.35 as follows:

(215 ILCS 5/143.35 new)

Sec. 143.35. Optional rental vehicle coverage.

(a) In response to all applications for a policy of automobile insurance, as defined in paragraph (a) of Section 143.13, received by an insurance company, the insurance company shall provide the applicant written notice regarding the availability of rental vehicle coverage for an insured vehicle as a result of a cause of loss covered by the policy contract, including the coverage limits and costs thereof.

(b) At least 30 days prior to each renewal of a policy of automobile insurance, as defined in paragraph (a) of Section 143.13, the insurance company shall provide the insured written notice regarding the availability of rental vehicle coverage for an insured vehicle as a result of a cause of loss covered by the policy contract, including the coverage limits and costs thereof.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect on July 1, 2027.
