SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Alma Aizkalns of Vernon Hills, who passed 
4away on August 20, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Alma Aizkalns was born in Broceni, Latvia; she 
6came to the United States in 1949 and became a citizen in 1954; 
7and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Alma Aizkalns was a long-time resident of 
9Jamestown, New York, where she raised her family; she was a 
10buyer for Quality Markets Food Stores and was active with her 
11church and the local Lions Club; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Alma Aizkalns relocated to Vernon Hills in 2010 
13and was an active member of the Vernon Hills Senior Center; she 
14enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills and the Chicago Bears and 
15playing bingo with her friends at Pathways Senior Housing; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Alma Aizkalns was preceded in death by her husband 
17of 44 years, Arturs Aizkalns, and her son, Ivar Aizkalns; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Alma Aizkalns is survived by her 2 daughters, 
19Sylvia (Steven) Freije and Cindy (Larry) Hebda and 5 
20grandchildren, Laura Aizkalns, Jason (Leslie) Aizkalns,

3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
5Alma Aizkalns, and extend our sincere condolences to her 
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to  the family of  Alma Aizkalns as an expression of 
10our deepest sympathy.
