| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Rev. Thomas J. White, who passed away on |
| 4 | | July 5, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Thomas White was born in Oak Park and grew up in |
| 6 | | the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary before earning a |
| 8 | | college degree from the University of St. Mary of the Lake in |
| 9 | | Mundelein; he subsequently attended seminary at St. Procopius |
| 10 | | College (now Benedictine University); and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, In 1959, Thomas White was ordained by the Joliet |
| 12 | | Diocese at the Cathedral of St. Raymond; over the next 46 |
| 13 | | years, he was stationed at churches across DuPage County, with |
| 14 | | a one-year stay in Will County; from 1959 until 1964, he served |
| 15 | | at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard before spending a year at St. |
| 16 | | Ann Church in Crest Hill; he also served at Visitation Church |
| 17 | | in Elmhurst, St. Luke in Carol Stream, and Church of the Holy |
| 18 | | Ghost in Wood Dale; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, In 1989, Thomas White was tapped to be the |
| 20 | | founding pastor at St. Daniel the Prophet, which was created to |
| 21 | | serve fast-growing residential areas on Wheaton's south side; |
| 22 | | prior to the church's construction, he oversaw the parish's |
