SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of former Lake County Chief Judge David 
4Michael Hall of Waukegan, who passed away on May 20, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Judge Hall was born in Racine, Wisconsin on 
6October 18, 1952 and grew up in Waukegan; he graduated from 
7Waukegan Township High School and earned his law degree from 
8the Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana; 
9and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Judge Hall began as an attorney in Waukegan in 
111976 when he joined the firm Hall, Meyer, Fisher, Holmberg, & 
12Snook, which had been founded by his late grandfather and where 
13his father had also worked; 5 years later, he formed his own 
14firm with a friend; he was appointed an associate judge in 1989 
15and, in 2000, he was appointed a circuit judge; later that 
16year, he was elected to a 6-year term and re-elected in 2006; 
17he was elected by his peers as Chief Judge in 2007; he retired 
18in 2012; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Judge Hall was a member and chairman of the Lake 
20County Family YMCA Board, a musician in the band Target, and 
21member of the Waukegan City Club; he enjoyed spending time with 
22his family and friends in Eagle River, Wisconsin; and

1    WHEREAS, Judge Hall was preceded in death by his daughter, 
2Meagan; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Judge Hall is survived by his wife, Karen (nee 
4Thorvaldsen); children, Karsten (Susan) Hall, Soren (Susan) 
5Hall, Bjorn Hall, and Anna Britt Hall; grandchildren, Addison, 
6Ella, and Avery; his parents, Albert and Katy Hall; siblings, 
7Terry Hall, Maggie Hall, and Diane Pendergast; and numerous 
8cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
11former Lake County Chief Judge David Michael Hall, and extend 
12our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who 
13knew and loved him; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to the family of Judge David Hall as an expression of 
16our deepest sympathy.
