SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Shirley Bryson of East Peoria, who passed 
4away on May 15, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Shirley Bryson was born on May 9, 1932 in Peoria; 
6her parents were Roland and Frances (nee Baker) Moody; she was 
7educated in Sparland Township schools; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Shirley Bryson was employed in administration at 
9Caterpillar Inc. until her retirement in July of 1996 after 25 
10years of service; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Shirley Bryson and her family had their Christian 
12beginnings at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she 
13attended over the years; she was also a member of Ward Chapel 
14African Methodist Episcopal Church and a past member of the 
15Peoria Tri-County Urban League Guild and the Lambda Theta Sigma 
16Sorority; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Shirley Bryson was preceded in death by her 
18parents and 3 brothers, Howard, Junior, and Bill Moody; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Shirley Bryson is survived by a devoted son, James 
20"Agbara" Bryson (fiancee, Margaret Moore); 3 grandchildren,

1Muron Bryson, Karlyn (Joe) Nevels, and Inca Bryson; 6 
2great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Khaliq, Joey, Josh, Laea, and 
3Rylan; a dear family friend, Mary Page; 2 sisters-in-law, 
4JeTaun Moody and Evelyn Walker; and many other relatives and 
5friends; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her 
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Shirley Bryson; and be 
9it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Shirley Bryson as an expression of 
12our sympathy.
