| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Patricia Rose (nee Cleary) Carney of |
| 4 | | Joliet, who passed away on May 6, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Carney was born in Peoria on June 18, |
| 6 | | 1926 to Harold and Cecilia Cleary; she attended the Academy of |
| 7 | | Our Lady High School and graduated from Bradley University in |
| 8 | | 1948, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority; she |
| 9 | | later pursued graduate studies in Social Work at Loyola |
| 10 | | University in Chicago; she married Lt. Col. John Francis, M.D. |
| 11 | | on December 22, 1951 at St. Mark's Church in Peoria; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Carney worked for the American Red Cross; |
| 13 | | and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Carney was a member of St. Paul the |
| 15 | | Apostle Church and other charitable organizations; she enjoyed |
| 16 | | gazing out her window at the gentle sunsets, the frenetic play |
| 17 | | of squirrels and raccoons, and the vibrant flowers encircling |
| 18 | | the family home at her "heavenly hill"; she also enjoyed |
| 19 | | spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren |
| 20 | | participate in Irish dance, basketball, and tennis; she made |
| 21 | | multiple trims to Jamaica with her family, where a charitable |
| 22 | | dental clinic was established in her honor in 2005; and
