| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Jack J. Manning of Burr Ridge, who passed |
| 4 | | away on February 28, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Manning was born and raised in Janesville, |
| 6 | | Wisconsin; he attended the University of Wisconsin on a |
| 7 | | basketball scholarship where he was a member of the Sigma Chi |
| 8 | | fraternity and ROTC; he graduated with a degree in economics |
| 9 | | and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean |
| 10 | | War; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, After his service, Jack Manning pursued a |
| 12 | | successful business career in the industrial gas industry; he |
| 13 | | worked at Airco Industrial Gases for 35 years, becoming |
| 14 | | Regional Vice-President, and then worked for 5 years at Pressed |
| 15 | | Steel Tank as Vice-President of Sales & Marketing; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Jack Manning enjoyed golfing and was a member of |
| 17 | | the Ruth Lake Country Club for 47 years and a former member of |
| 18 | | the Butler National Golf Club for 15 years; he was Director of |
| 19 | | the Western Golf Association, where he devoted much of his time |
| 20 | | to the Evans Scholarship Program; he and his wife enjoyed |
| 21 | | spending their winters at Sun City Grand in Surprise, Arizona; |
