| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Albert D. "Vinegar Al" Burkus, who passed |
| 4 | | away on April 14, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Albert Burkus served his country with pride as a |
| 6 | | member of the United States Navy; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Albert Burkus enjoyed bright colors, loud |
| 8 | | Hawaiian shirts, a good joke, and playing golf; he was the only |
| 9 | | member of the Crystal Lake Country Club to naturally birdie all |
| 10 | | five par 3s in a single round and not break a 100; he was well |
| 11 | | known as a great dancer and demonstrated great pride having |
| 12 | | danced on American Bandstand; he loved music of all kinds, |
| 13 | | especially Motown; he also loved the American flag and strongly |
| 14 | | believed it to be sacred; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Albert Burkus is survived by his beloved wife of |
| 16 | | 48 years, Agnes Burkus (nee Hughes); 2 sons, Kevin Burkus and |
| 17 | | Brian Burkus (Kim); a daughter, Colleen Gardner (John); his |
| 18 | | prized granddaughter, Josie Gardner, aka "His Josephine"; a |
| 19 | | brother, Daniel Burkus (Marie); a sister, Barbara Kintz; and |
| 20 | | many other loving family members and dear friends; therefore, |
| 21 | | be it
