| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Marilyn J. Roedell of Peoria, who passed |
| 4 | | away on April 22, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell was born on January 13, 1927 in |
| 6 | | Peoria; her parents were Francis F. and Mary L. Bobeck; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell earned her Master of Criminal |
| 8 | | Justice from Sangamon State University in 1987 and her Bachelor |
| 9 | | of Social Work from the University of Illinois; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell founded and was the Director of |
| 11 | | the Witness Information Service in the mid-1980s for the Peoria |
| 12 | | County State's Attorney; she was formerly employed as a Crisis |
| 13 | | Counselor at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Room for |
| 14 | | 3 years and served as a social worker for Catholic Social |
| 15 | | Services; on May 16, 1979, she was sworn in as the first female |
| 16 | | Deputy of the Peoria County Coroner's Office; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell was a parishioner at St. Thomas |
| 18 | | the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights; she was active |
| 19 | | in Cursillo, the Peoria County Democrats, and the Woodruff High |
| 20 | | School Alumni Board; she also founded the Divorced Catholics |
| 21 | | Group with the Peoria Diocese in 1977; and
