SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Clarence E. "Smitty" Smith of Edison 
4Park; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Clarence Smith served his country as a member of 
6the United States Marine Corps; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Clarence Smith was a retired 60-plus year member 
8of Machinist's Union Local #48; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Clarence Smith was a dedicated volunteer for the 
10New Hope Food Pantry and the Chicago Food Depository; he was 
11also the "Mayor of Onarga", an avid bowler, and a true wood 
12craftsman; and

  
 
13    WHEREAS, Clarence Smith was the beloved husband of 63 years 
14to Barbara Smith (nee Jones); the loving father of Linda 
15(William) Johnson, Gary (Maria) Smith, Glenn (Jennifer) Smith, 
16Penny (John) Kazmier, and Karen Smith; the proud grandfather 
17and great grandfather of many; the dear brother of Helen 
18(Flores) Suarez; and the loving uncle of Christine (Jim) 
19Leggett and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
2family and friends, mourn the passing of Clarence E. "Smitty" 
3Smith; and be it further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to the family of Clarence Smith as an expression of 
6our sympathy.
