| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Louis R. Peyla, who passed away on March |
| 4 | | 28, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Louis Peyla was born on May 4, 1930; his parents |
| 6 | | were Louis and Caryl (nee Buck) Peyla; he was a long-time |
| 7 | | resident of Joliet; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Louis Peyla graduated from the Cathedral of St. |
| 9 | | Raymond Grade School, St. John's Northwestern Military |
| 10 | | Academy, and Illinois Wesleyan University; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Louis Peyla proudly served his country as a member |
| 12 | | of the United States Marine Corps, having attained the rank of |
| 13 | | captain; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Louis Peyla and his brother were the owners and |
| 15 | | chief executive officers of the Illinois Securities Company for |
| 16 | | over 40 years; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Louis Peyla was a dedicated board member of the |
| 18 | | Will County Center for Economic Development, the George Werden |
| 19 | | Buck Boys & Girls Club, the Joliet Regional Chamber of |
| 20 | | Commerce, the Joliet Junior College Foundation, and the First |
|

| 1 | | National Bank of Joliet; he served as a City of Joliet |
| 2 | | Councilman from 1972 to 1976; he was also a member of the |
| 3 | | Joliet Rotary Club, the Joliet Country Club, the Downtown |
| 4 | | Development Council, and the Joliet YMCA; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Louis Peyla was recognized as Joliet's |
| 6 | | Outstanding Young Man of the Year in 1961; he was also the |
| 7 | | recipient of several civic and community awards; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Louis Peyla was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan; he |
| 9 | | also had a life-long love of the Wisconsin Northwoods and the |
| 10 | | game of golf; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Louis Peyla was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 12 | | his daughter, Julie Peyla Holladay; his brothers-in-law, |
| 13 | | George M. O'Brien and William Jackson; his sister-in-law, |
| 14 | | Jacqueline Peyla; and his niece, Leah Peyla; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Louis Peyla is survived by his beloved wife of 38 |
| 16 | | years, Edna (nee Messer) Peyla; his 4 children, Gregory (Susan) |
| 17 | | Peyla, Kimberly (David Thornton) Edmiston, Jeffrey (Viola |
| 18 | | Vega) Peyla, and Laurie Rambo; his grandchildren, Nicole |
| 19 | | Edmiston, Seth Peyla, and Emma and Ian Rambo; his sister, Mary |
| 20 | | Lou O'Brien Jackson; his brother, Charles R. (Patricia) Peyla; |
| 21 | | numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends; his first |
| 22 | | wife, Patrica (nee Bottino) Peyla; and his step-daughters, |

| 1 | | Debra Cain and Donna Bradley; therefore, be it

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 4 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Louis R. Peyla; and be |
| 5 | | it further
|
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 7 | | presented to the family of Louis Peyla as an expression of our |
| 8 | | sympathy.
