SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Melvin E. Stanford of Mackinaw, who 
4passed away on April 8, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Melvin Stanford was born on September 10, 1943 in 
6Salem; his parents were Melvin W. and Wilhelmina E. Hormann 
7Stanford; he married Lillian F. Vance on December 17, 1977 in 
8Groveland; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Melvin Stanford earned his bachelor's degree from 
10Illinois State University and his master's degree from Bradley 
11University; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, After college, Melvin Stanford taught and coached 
13at Washington Grade School for 3 years and later taught and 
14coached at Deer Creek Mackinaw Grade School for over 15 years; 
15he subsequently left teaching and went to work for the Illinois 
16Department of Transportation as a human resources director from 
171985 to 2002; during his time with the Illinois Department of 
18Transportation, he served as a member of the Tazewell County 
19Board for 12 years; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Melvin Stanford was preceded in death by his 
21parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Melvin Stanford is survived by his wife, Lillian; 
2one daughter, Rachael, and her fiance, Kyle Stratton; one son, 
3Robert (Jessica) Stanford; one sister, Bert Becker; 4 brothers, 
4Robert (Max) Stanford, Dale Stanford, Gale Stanford, and Gary 
5(Carol) Stanford; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Melvin E. Stanford; 
9and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Melvin Stanford as an expression of 
12our sympathy.
