| 2 |  |     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  | 
| 3 |  | learn of the death of  Bessie Mary Wiley of Memphis, Tennessee,  | 
| 4 |  | who passed away on April 1, 2014; and
     | 
| 5 |  |     WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley was born on September 27, 1931 in  | 
| 6 |  | Yazoo, Mississippi; her parents were Columbus and Bessie (nee  | 
| 7 |  | Simpson) Wiley; and
     | 
| 8 |  |     WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley attended Grant Elementary School and  | 
| 9 |  | Manassas High School in Memphis, Tennessee; and
     | 
| 10 |  |     WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley accepted Christ at an early age and  | 
| 11 |  | attended First Chelsea Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee for  | 
| 12 |  | more than 70 years; she was a faithful and active member of the  | 
| 13 |  | choir, mother board, Sunday school, hospitality, and  | 
| 14 |  | environmental service for many years; and
     | 
| 15 |  |     WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley was employed at Memphis State  | 
| 16 |  | University for 26 years as environmental servant; after  | 
| 17 |  | retiring, she worked for Senior Services, Inc. until 2011; and
     | 
| 18 |  |     WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley was preceded in death by her parents;  | 
| 19 |  | her brothers, Merk, James, Johnnie, and Albert Wiley; her  | 
| 20 |  | sister, Emma Claxton; and sons, James and Gregory Wiley; and   |
