| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Bishop Glaudis Lawrence, III who passed |
| 4 | | away on March 30, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Glaudis Lawrence, III was born on February 2, 1955 |
| 6 | | in Chattanooga, Tennessee; his parents were Glaudis Lawrence, |
| 7 | | II and Mary B. Green; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, While dating his future wife, Glaudis Lawrence, |
| 9 | | III went with her to an evening service at God's House of All |
| 10 | | Nations, which started his long relationship with God; he |
| 11 | | subsequently joined God's House of All Nation in Chicago, where |
| 12 | | he was a faithful and loyal member for many years and was a |
| 13 | | member of the church band; in 1978, Bishop Lawrence's |
| 14 | | father-in-law started the ministry of God's House of Brotherly |
| 15 | | Love Church, where he served for over 20 years in many |
| 16 | | capacities, including president and member of the choir, Sunday |
| 17 | | school teacher, and deacon; he was later ordained as a minister |
| 18 | | and worked side-by-side with Bishop Howard and Mother Joyce |
| 19 | | Abbey to spread the gospel and draw souls to the church; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, After the passing of his father-in-law in December |
| 21 | | of 1997, Glaudis Lawrence, III founded a new church, which was |
| 22 | | renamed God's House of Brotherly Love Church 2; the church was |
|

| 1 | | opened for the first time on January 3, 1999 at its new |
| 2 | | location on 425 Bohland Avenue in Bellwood, which was also the |
| 3 | | home of Meca Elementary Christian School, which he co-founded |
| 4 | | and served as the Chief Financial Officer; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Glaudis Lawrence, III was a philanthropist and |
| 6 | | humanitarian; he served the community by providing many |
| 7 | | services, including classes on the biblical foundations of |
| 8 | | Christ, supporting Tabatha's Shelter for Women and Children |
| 9 | | with food and clothing, working with the Prison Ministry, |
| 10 | | supporting the Children's Hunger Fund and Toys for Tots and |
| 11 | | other local ministries, and various community initiatives; he |
| 12 | | sponsored weekly bible study programs and family men and women |
| 13 | | conferences each year; he also spent countless hours |
| 14 | | volunteering and coaching boys' basketball and the Pop Warner |
| 15 | | football in Maywood for many years; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Glaudis Lawrence, III was employed as a successful |
| 17 | | independent contractor; he was the founder and owner of G & G |
| 18 | | Builders; his craftsmanship lead him to become a foreman for |
| 19 | | many building and renovation projects in the Chicagoland and |
| 20 | | Suburban areas, such as the development project for God's House |
| 21 | | of Brotherly Love Church in Maywood and Living Word Christian |
| 22 | | Center in Forest Park; and
|
| 23 | | WHEREAS, Glaudis Lawrence, III was preceded in death by his |
|

| 1 | | parents; his stepfather, Charles Green, Sr.; and his brother, |
| 2 | | Charles D. Green, Jr.; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Glaudis Lawrence, III is survived by his loving |
| 4 | | wife of 39 years, Pastor Pamela J. Lawrence; his children, |
| 5 | | Pastor Gaylena (Pastor Superbreed) White, Pastor Glennetta |
| 6 | | (Elder Ken) Crowder, Glaudis Lawrence, IV, and TaDarrius |
| 7 | | Douglas; his grandchildren, Jayden Lawrence-White, Judah |
| 8 | | Crowder, Glaudis Lawrence, V, Jaydah Lawrence, and Chase |
| 9 | | Lawrence; his sister, Minister LaRita (Elder Larry) |
| 10 | | Washington; his brothers, Michael (Valery) Lawrence, Sr. and |
| 11 | | Roderick (Angeleada) Green; his 5 grandchildren; his many |
| 12 | | nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; his God's |
| 13 | | House of Brotherly Love Church 2 and Meca Elementary Christian |
| 14 | | School family; and his many other relatives and friends; |
| 15 | | therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 18 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Bishop Glaudis |
| 19 | | Lawrence, III; and be it further
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to the family of Glaudis Lawrence, III as an |
| 22 | | expression of our sympathy.
