| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Oak Forest Police Department police |
| 4 | | officer James Morrissy, who passed away in the line of duty on |
| 5 | | March 17, 2014; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, James Morrissy was born on July 30, 1951; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Tinley Park High School in 1969
and attended |
| 8 | | Thornton Community College; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, James Morrissy served his country with pride as a |
| 10 | | member of the United States Army from 1970 to 1972, having |
| 11 | | obtained the rank of E-4; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, James Morrissy began his career with the Oak |
| 13 | | Forest Police Department on July 16, 1992; during his career, |
| 14 | | he served as as a field training officer
and a truck |
| 15 | | enforcement officer; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, James Morrissy was the recipient of numerous |
| 17 | | awards and honors, including 9 annual awards from the Alliance |
| 18 | | against Intoxicated Motorists for DUI Enforcement,
numerous |
| 19 | | commendations and appreciative letters from the public, and
a |
| 20 | | Heroic Action Award from the City of Country Club Hills for |
| 21 | | risking his life during the arrest of an armed
suspect; and
