SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Edward Guettler of McHenry, who passed 
4away on January 31, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Guettler was born on October 13, 1919 in 
6Dexter, Minnesota; his parents were David and Helena (nee Groh) 
7Guettler; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Edward Guettler served as a diesel engine master 
9mechanic for the United States Army during World War II; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Edward Guettler devoted his life to helping others 
11as a member of Kiwanis, American Legion Post 491, Shepherd of 
12the Hills Lutheran Church, and the Alzheimer's Support Group; 
13he was proud to drive and maintain the 1928 fire engine in 
14county-wide parades for the McHenry County Historical Society 
15and to represent the city he loved as the 1992 Fiesta Days 
16Parade Marshal; he also served as a Trustee for the McHenry 
17Township Fire Protection District; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Edward Guettler was preceded in death by his wife, 
19Marla; his daughter, Peggy Guettler; his grandson, Daven Edward 
20Guettler; and his 7 siblings; and

1    WHEREAS, Edward Guettler is survived by his daughters, 
2Sally Roth, Dawn (Tom) LaBuy-Brockett, Jean (Mark) Luchtefeld, 
3and Julie Brunow; his special adopted daughters, Caterina Simon 
4and Mercury Do; his grandchildren, Chris (Corki) Roth, Jennifer 
5LaBuy, Matthew (Amy) Luchtefeld, Jane (David) 
6Luchtefeld-Endres, Ben (Jen) Roth, Vanessa (Brian) LaBuy, 
7Adrienne (Anthony) LaBuy-Dudek, Phillip (Anne) LaBuy, Daniel 
8(Jenna) Roth, Jon-Patrick (Ellen) Bennett, Claire Brunow, and 
9Marlee Brunow; his 18 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Erna 
10"Tootsie" Morgan; therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward Guettler; and 
14be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to the family of Edward Guettler as an expression of 
17our sympathy.
