| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Doris Louise Jones; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Doris Jones was born on November 10, 1936 in |
| 5 | | Benton, Mississippi to Willie Hendrix and Bettie Brooks; she |
| 6 | | graduated from Linwood High School in Yazoo County, |
| 7 | | Mississippi; as a young adult she loved to sing as a member of |
| 8 | | the Greengrove Singers, and along with family and friends, the |
| 9 | | group toured the south and achieved local celebrity status in |
| 10 | | their home state of Mississippi; she married Calvin Jones in |
| 11 | | 1956; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Doris Jones worked as a Licensed Practitioner |
| 13 | | Nurse in the 1970's and managed properties and tenant affairs |
| 14 | | for the real estate property her husband purchased; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Doris Jones's greatest passion was that of mother |
| 16 | | and homemaker; she became the "neighborhood mother" and often |
| 17 | | provided transportation to activities for the community's |
| 18 | | young people and often supplied employment to the youth in the |
| 19 | | neighborhood; she was active on the Missionary Board at the |
| 20 | | Victory Apostolic Faith Church, where she would clean members |
| 21 | | homes who needed help; she also enjoyed singing with a local |
| 22 | | gospel group which served the sick and shut-in within the |
|

| 1 | | senior citizen homes and centers in her community; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Doris Jones was preceded in death by her husband, |
| 3 | | Calvin; her parents; her sisters, Emma Williams, Eamestine |
| 4 | | Hart, Florence Brown, and Magnolia Bell; and her brother, James |
| 5 | | Bell; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Doris Jones is survived by her children, Peggie |
| 7 | | (David Franklin), Eamise, Hilda, Carolyn (Leonard Allain), |
| 8 | | Calvin B. Jr., Darron (Willnetta), Richard (Noelle), Eric |
| 9 | | (Carlisa), Carranza, and Marvill; her siblings, Earlene Bell, |
| 10 | | Gloria Bell, Henry Bell, Jessie Bell, Roosevelt Bell, Thelma |
| 11 | | (Johnny-B) Bunch, Albertine Hendrix, Barbara A. Hendrix, |
| 12 | | Clarence C. Hendrix, Cleotha (Eugenia) Hendrix, Earl J. |
| 13 | | (Estelle) Hendrix, Gloria E. Hendrix, Lloyd M. Hendrix, Porter |
| 14 | | (Pearl) Hendrix, Travis T. Hendrix, Willie Jr. (Lydia) Hendrix, |
| 15 | | Dorothy Faye (James) Morris, Sandra (Curtis) Pepper, and Alma |
| 16 | | (Gary) Spivey; and a host of beloved grandchildren, nieces, and |
| 17 | | nephews; therefore, be it

| 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 20 | | Doris Louise Jones, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
| 21 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
