SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Frances Kelly, who passed away on 
4December 10, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Frances Kelly graduated from Barat College in Lake 
6Forest; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Frances Kelly taught in Catholic and public 
8schools for many years; she also started the first Montessori 
9School in Waukegan in 1968; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Frances Kelly was well-regarded as a gifted artist 
11and singer; in the 1940s, she joined her sisters, Gerrie and 
12Jane, to sing at USO shows, traveling to Army, Navy, and Marine 
13Corps bases throughout the United States; much of their free 
14time was spent visiting the wounded veterans in military 
15hospitals; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Frances Kelly lived her life for Jesus; she 
17attended Mass every day and spent many hours in prayer; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Frances Kelly was preceded in death by her 
19parents, John and Ellen Kelly; her brothers, Tom (Anita) Kelly 
20and John (Sue) Kelly; and her sisters, Mary (Vernon) Karasek,

1Margie (James) Huffine, and Dorothy (Stanley) Durka; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Frances Kelly was the beloved sister of Ginger 
3Durkin, Gerrie Keirnan, and Jane Kennedy; she is also survived 
4by her many nieces and nephews and her many other family 
5members; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her 
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Frances Kelly; and be 
9it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Frances Kelly as an expression of 
12our sympathy.
