SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Pastor B.G. Nevitt of Decatur, who passed 
4away on August 17, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, B.G. Nevitt was born April 19, 1958 in Moline; he 
6was the son of Robert and Nelda Nevitt; he married Brenda K. 
7Hoover on March 12, 1977, and had 2 daughters, Amy and Missie; 
8and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, B.G. Nevitt served as a pastor in Jacksonville and 
10Grayslake; in 1991, he and his family moved to Decatur to 
11become the lead pastor at GT Church, where he served faithfully 
12for 22 years; he was passionate about his GT family and 
13reaching out to his community; one of his favorite days was The 
14Blessing of the Bikes, where he got to minister to hundreds of 
15bikers; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, B.G. Nevitt served as a chaplain for the Decatur 
17Police Department; he subsequently became an auxiliary officer 
18and was promoted to the rank of sergeant; and

  
 
19    WHEREAS, B.G. Nevitt enjoyed spending time with his 
20grandchildren and helping those in need; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
3family and friends, mourn the passing of Pastor B.G. Nevitt; 
4and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to the family of B.G. Nevitt as an expression of our 
7sympathy.
