| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Harrison Brooks "Jug" Paisley of Wood |
| 4 | | River, who passed away on October 11, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harrison Paisley was born in Saint Louis, |
| 6 | | Missouri; he moved to Wood River as a child and was raised by |
| 7 | | his aunt, Garnetta (nee Moore) Stirnaman; he graduated from |
| 8 | | East Alton-Wood River Community High School and enlisted in the |
| 9 | | United States Naval Reserve in 1947; he married Patricia Ann |
| 10 | | Sparks in 1952 in Monterey, California; he served as an airman |
| 11 | | apprentice, airplane mechanic, and later qualified as a pilot, |
| 12 | | achieving the rank of Lieutenant; he served on the VS-23 USS |
| 13 | | Yorktown and flew PB4Y-2 Anti-Submarine aircraft during the |
| 14 | | Korean War; he retired from the Navy in 1968; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Harrison Paisley returned to Wood River following |
| 16 | | his time in the Navy; he worked for the city as one of the first |
| 17 | | managers of the Belk Park Golf Course and served Wood River in |
| 18 | | various positions from Finance Director and Building and Zoning |
| 19 | | to Acting City Manager; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Harrison Paisley was a member of the Wood River |
| 21 | | Lions Club, the Alton Eagles Aries #254, the Visitors Bureau, |
| 22 | | the River Bend Growth Association, and the Alton Sportsman |
