| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Gussie Lee (nee Bonner) Parker of Beach |
| 4 | | Park, who passed away on September 25, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gussie Parker was born on February 14, 1926 in |
| 6 | | Hickman, Kentucky to Eddie and Mattie (nee McBride) Bonner; she |
| 7 | | married Samuel Parker in Canton, Missouri on October 3, 1942; |
| 8 | | they moved to Illinois in 1944 and lived in Zion, Waukegan, |
| 9 | | North Chicago, and eventually Beach Park; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Gussie Parker worked for 29 years as a nursing |
| 11 | | assistant at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in North Chicago and |
| 12 | | 3 years at Lake County Head Start; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Gussie Parker was preceded in death by her |
| 14 | | parents; her husband, Samuel; her son, Charles; her brothers, |
| 15 | | Eddie, Percy Lee, Matthew, John, Otis, and Joe; and her |
| 16 | | sisters, Queen Ester, Emma, Bertha, Mattie, and Jessie; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Gussie Parker is survived by her sons, Samuel, |
| 18 | | Philip, Dennis, Bart, Lonnie, Danny, Adley, and Ted; her |
| 19 | | daughters, Terry Alhassan, Doris Coles, and LaWana Carter; her |
| 20 | | 29 grandchildren; her 21 great-grandchildren; and her |
| 21 | | brothers, Bishop William Bonner, L.T., and Hubert; therefore, |
