| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Henry Bernal Saenz of Alton, who passed |
| 4 | | away on September 30, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Henry Saenz was born on July 7, 1924 in Las |
| 6 | | Cruces, New Mexico to Marcos and Alice (nee Bernal) Saenz; he |
| 7 | | served in the United States Army Air Corps as a radio operator |
| 8 | | from 1943 to 1945; he married Jo Alice Barnerd on July 11, 1945 |
| 9 | | in Wichita Falls, Texas; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Henry Saenz ran the family owned Barleff's |
| 11 | | Menswear in Alton from December 1946 until January 2012; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Henry Saenz was a lifetime member of the Veterans |
| 13 | | of Foreign Wars Post #1308, the American Legion, the Alton |
| 14 | | Eagles Lodge Foe No.254, and the Alton Knights of Columbus |
| 15 | | #460; he was charter member of the Alton Exchange, where he |
| 16 | | served as former District President and former National |
| 17 | | President; he was also a member of the North Alton Godfrey |
| 18 | | Business Council, the Riverbend Growth Association, the Alton |
| 19 | | Wood River Sportsman's Club, the Junior Achievement, and was |
| 20 | | instrumental in the incorporation of Godfrey Township; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Henry Saenz was an avid golfer and enjoyed |
|

| 1 | | "hitting the links"; and |
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Henry Saenz was preceded in death by his wife, Jo; |
| 3 | | his parents; his son, Brian Henry Saenz; and his sister, Alice |
| 4 | | Mae Rodriquez; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Henry Saenz is survived by his daughter, Diane |
| 6 | | Saenz; his sons, Marc B. Saenz and James E. (Melissa) Saenz; |
| 7 | | his grandchildren, Regan (Cindy) Jones, Ian (fiancee Jeanne) |
| 8 | | Jones, Jennifer (Andy) Dykeman, Stephanie (Steve) Bauer, |
| 9 | | Rebecca (Mike) Elliott, Brian (Kristen) Saenz, Rachel |
| 10 | | (Brandon) Waters, Jessica (Ike) Ruedin, Matthew Saenz, and |
| 11 | | Megan Saenz; his great-grandchildren, Kegan, Lukas, and Quinn |
| 12 | | Jones, Tanner Schaefer, Liam and Adaela Jones, Samantha and |
| 13 | | Sarah Bauer, Elizabeth Foster, Samantha Elliott, Dillon and |
| 14 | | Henry Ruedin, Madeline and Catherine Saenz, and Eli and Simon |
