SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Ruth M. Rothstein (nee Merson), who 
4passed away on August 4, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Ruth Rothstein served as the Chair of the Rosalind 
6Franklin University of Medicine and Science Board of Trustees 
7since 2004; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Ruth Rothstein had a life-long commitment to 
9improving access to health care; she received the Rosalind 
10Franklin, PhD. Life in Discovery Award due to her dedicated 
11leadership; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Rosalind Franklin University recently announced 
13that a new facility on campus would bear the name Rothstein 
14Warden Centennial Learning Center; and
  
 
  
15    WHEREAS, Ruth Rothstein was the beloved wife of the late 
16David Rothstein; the loving mother of Martha (David Shulman) 
17Rothstein and Jonathan (Roxane) Rothstein; the proud 
18grandmother of Max David Rothstein; the dear sister of Larry 
19(the late Gloria) Merson, Jack (Judy) Merson, and the late 
20Melvin (the late Rita) Merson; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Ruth M. Rothstein, and extend our sincere condolences to her 
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
5further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Ruth Rothstein as an expression of 
8our deepest sympathy.
