SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Sylvia Fites, who passed away on May 6, 
42013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Sylvia Fites was born in Cape Town, South Africa, 
6on July 5, 1926; she married Donald V. Fites on June 25, 1960; 
7and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Sylvia Fites graduated from Paarl Business School 
9in 1944 and was employed by the Imperial Chemical Company until 
101962; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Sylvia Fites lived in Peoria from 1968 to 1970, 
121975 to 1979, and 1982 to 2004; she accompanied her husband 
13during assignments in Africa, Europe, Asia, and South America; 
14and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Sylvia Fites was a member of the First United 
16Methodist Church in Peoria; she and her husband participated in 
17First United Methodist charitable and missionary initiatives 
18and the faith-based work of the Salvation Army; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Sylvia Fites was preceded in death by her parents; 
20her brother, Lionel Dempsey; and her sister, Olga Lilley; and

1    WHEREAS, Sylvia Fites is survived by her husband, Donald; 
2her daughter, Linda Reed; and her grandchildren, Donald, 
3Rachel, and Robbie; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
6her family and friends, the passing of Sylvia Fites; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Sylvia Fites as an expression of our 
10sympathy.
