| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Kamisha Danyette Hodge-Walker of Decatur, |
| 4 | | who passed away on June 12, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Kamisha Hodge-Walker was born April 29, 1976, in |
| 6 | | Decatur to Diane Belue and Thomas E. Walker; she graduated from |
| 7 | | Stephen Decatur High School in 1994, where she was a member of |
| 8 | | the National Honor Society, as well as the cheerleading squad, |
| 9 | | the volleyball team, and the student council, and she was |
| 10 | | crowned homecoming queen; she attended St. Louis University, |
| 11 | | graduating with honors in English and business administration; |
| 12 | | she was working towards a Master's degree from Webster |
| 13 | | University; she married Harlan Hodge on May 24, 1998; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Kamisha Hodge-Walker taught English at Brittany |
| 15 | | Woods Middle School in St. Louis, Missouri, for 2 years before |
| 16 | | moving back to Illinois; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Kamisha Hodge-Walker's faith was very important |
| 18 | | to her; she was reared in the Church of the Living God, the |
| 19 | | Pillar and Ground of the Truth, Temple #1, where she was active |
| 20 | | in the youth department and Bible drill team; while living in |
| 21 | | St. Louis she attended Shalom City of Peace; upon returning to |
| 22 | | Decatur, she was a member of the Main Street Church of the |
|

| 1 | | Living God; she participated in the women's mission and the |
| 2 | | noon day prayer, and served as a mentor with Youth With A |
| 3 | | Positive Direction; she was the visionary and founder of |
| 4 | | Decatur's Sunday Best and Family Feud; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Kamisha Hodge-Walker was preceded in death by her |
| 6 | | biological mother, Diane Belue Cook; her paternal grandfather, |
| 7 | | Roger Walker Sr.; her maternal grandmother, Jackie Miller; and |
| 8 | | her maternal grandfather, aunt, and uncle, L.C. and Leta |
| 9 | | Collins; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Kamisha Hodge-Walker is survived by her parents, |
| 11 | | Dr. Thomas E. Walker and Margaret A. Walker; her son, Brylan |
| 12 | | Hodge; her brothers, Pierre Perkins, Anthony Corey (Sylvia) |
| 13 | | Walker, and Shalen Walker; her sisters, Jalynn Walker and |
| 14 | | Shannon (Marlon) Joyner; her grandmother, Ida Lake-Walker; her |
| 15 | | uncles, Arthur Lee (Terri) Walker, Timothy Lake, Rev. Barnett |
| 16 | | (Laticia Faye) Belue, Cornell (Carmen) Belue, and Jerry Wayne |
| 17 | | Belue; her aunts, Hilda Walker and Shawn (Michael) Page; her |
| 18 | | great-aunts, Doris Lawrence, Mary Ann Boyd, and Jean (A.D.) |
| 19 | | Brooks; her great-uncle, Horace (Dimple) Walker; her special |
| 20 | | cousin, Tina (Sylvania) McDaniel; and a host of aunts, uncles, |
| 21 | | nephews, nieces, and other relatives; therefore, be it
