| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Mary Ann Cavener of Waukegan, who passed |
| 4 | | away on April 12, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Cavener was born in 1940 in North Chicago |
| 6 | | to Fred and Mildred Postich; she graduated with honors from |
| 7 | | North Chicago Community High School in 1958 and eloped with |
| 8 | | William Cavener shortly after graduation; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Cavener and William owned and operated 5 |
| 10 | | Points Restaurant in North Chicago for many years; after her |
| 11 | | son Bill took over ownership in 1985, she worked as a secretary |
| 12 | | at Allstate Insurance in Bannockburn until retirement in 2005; |
| 13 | | and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Cavener would do all she could to raise |
| 15 | | awareness of the cause of soldiers overseas; she solicited |
| 16 | | donations wherever she could to buy and ship various items to |
| 17 | | them and she would corresponded with many of them personally; |
| 18 | | and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Cavener enjoyed reading, cooking, and |
| 20 | | taking care of her family and friends; and |
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Cavener was preceded in death by her |
| 2 | | husband, Bill; her father, Fred; her brother, Steve; her |
| 3 | | companion, Dany; and her mother, Mildred; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Cavener is survived by her children, |
| 5 | | Cheryl (John) Durbin, Bill (Andrea) Cavener, Diana (Frederick) |
| 6 | | Allen; her grandchildren, Allison, Lauren, Stacy, Brian, |
| 7 | | Kevin, Sam, Hattie, Emma, and Will; her great-granddaughter, |
| 8 | | Olivia; her sister, Judi Lampinen (Bill Allen); her brothers, |
| 9 | | Mike Postich and Sam Postich; and her nieces, Michele, Melissa, |
| 10 | | and Robyn; therefore, be it
|
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 13 | | Mary Ann Cavener, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
| 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
| 15 | | further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to the family of Mary Ann Cavener as an expression of |
| 18 | | our deepest sympathy.
