| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Gentry C. Thetford of Metamora, formerly |
| 4 | | of Washington, who passed away on February 8, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gentry Thetford was born on June 26, 1929, in |
| 6 | | Bradford, Tennessee; his parents were the late Simon Vernie |
| 7 | | Thetford and Vera Mai Thetford; he married Betty Joyce "BJ" |
| 8 | | Harder on March 18, 1951; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Gentry Thetford graduated from Woodruff High |
| 10 | | School in 1947; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Gentry Thetford began his professional career at |
| 12 | | Couch & Heyle, where he worked for 39 years, serving the |
| 13 | | majority of that time as the company's purchasing agent until |
| 14 | | the company's closure in 1986; he ended his career at MRS |
| 15 | | Industrial, where he retired in 1995; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Gentry Thetford served his country for 8 years in |
| 17 | | the Naval Reserves during the Korean War; he was a member of |
| 18 | | the East Peoria Hilton Masonic Lodge; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Gentry Thetford was the classic "Good Neighbor" |
| 20 | | and was bestowed that honor by the Washington Courier; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Gentry Thetford was an avid outdoorsman and animal |
| 2 | | lover who loved his fishing trips to Canada and his squirrel, |
| 3 | | rabbit, pheasant, waterfowl, deer, and turkey hunting |
| 4 | | excursions with his family and friends; he was a devoted member |
| 5 | | of Wilmor Sportsman's Club, which at one time was affiliated |
| 6 | | with the Central Illinois Beagle Club, where he enjoyed |
| 7 | | breeding champion beagles who won many awards at field trials |
| 8 | | throughout the central Illinois region; he enjoyed bowling, for |
| 9 | | which he received many individual and team awards; he was a |
| 10 | | frequent visitor to the "boys' swamp", where he enjoyed |
| 11 | | searching for morel mushrooms; he also loved the St. Louis |
| 12 | | Cardinals; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Gentry Thetford is survived by his wife, Betty |
| 14 | | "BJ"; his son, Donn Thetford; his daughters, Sheri (Robert) |
| 15 | | Perkins and Gale Thetford; his grandsons, Nathan Tonnies, Derek |
| 16 | | Thetford, Robert (Taylor) Perkins, Stuart Schmadeke, and Aaron |
| 17 | | Perkins; therefore, be it
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 20 | | his family and friends, the passing of Gentry C. Thetford; and |
| 21 | | be it further
|
| 22 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
