SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Emmett J. Severson, who passed away on 
4December 16, 2012; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Emmett Severson was born in Verona; his parents 
6were John and Maren (Habberstad) Severson; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Emmett Severson worked as a farmer during his 
8youth in Grundy County; he later farmed in Jackson Township 
9until his retirement in 1992; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Emmett Severson was a former member of the Knights 
11of Columbus; he ushered at St. Paul the Apostle Church for 35 
12years; he was a member and past officer of the Will County Farm 
13Bureau and met with the United States Secretary of Agriculture 
14in the late 1960s to speak on area farming issues; he was also 
15a member of the Illinois Corn Growers Association, the Elwood 
16Sportsmans Club, and the Paulites; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Emmett Severson was preceded in death by his wife 
18of 66 years, Irene; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Emmett Severson is survived by his daughter, Susan 
20Roncone; his son, John Severson; his grandchildren, Dr.

1Christopher Severson, Erik Roncone, Jonathan Roncone, 
2Alexander Roncone, Bridgette Guyer, MD, Neil Severson; and his 
3step-grandsons, Josh Martinez and Nickolas Martinez; 
4therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
7his family and friends, the passing of Emmett J. Severson; and 
8be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Emmett Severson as an expression of 
11our sympathy.
