SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Berniece M. Edwards of Springfield, who 
4passed away on January 26, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards was born on May 9, 1926, in 
6Springfield; her parents were George and Jessie (Collins) 
7Hashman; she was a lifetime resident of Springfield; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards retired as an LPN, pediatric 
9nurse after many years of dedicated service; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards was a member of West Side 
11Christian Church in Springfield; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards was an avid fan of politics and 
13the Chicago Cubs; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards was preceded in death by her 
15husband, Francis Edwards; her parents; and her sister, Lila 
16Shipman; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards is survived by her children, Judy 
18(Mel) Rich and Frank (Cinda) Edwards; her grandchildren, 
19Nancianne (Mark) Knipfer, Sheri (Doug) Iwanicki, and Alex

1Edwards; her great-grandchildren, Julia and Abby Knipfer and 
2Madi and Gabriel Iwanicki; her brothers, George (Agnes) Hashman 
3and Kenny "Hash" Hashman; and her many nieces, nephews, 
4cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
7her family and friends, the passing of Berniece M. Edwards; and 
8be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Berniece Edwards as an expression of 
11our sympathy.
