| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 21B-200 as follows:

| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/21B-200 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 21B-200. Highly qualified teachers; physical and |
| 8 | | health education. A teacher who teaches physical education or |
| 9 | | health education in the public schools may meet the |
| 10 | | requirements for highly qualified status that apply to teachers |
| 11 | | who teach in core academic subjects pursuant to the federal No |
| 12 | | Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
