| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by |
| 5 | | changing Section 16.03 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (70 ILCS 705/16.03) (from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 37.03)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 16.03.
Of the three members of a board of fire |
| 8 | | commissioners, one
shall be a representative citizen of the |
| 9 | | employee class, one shall be a
representative citizen chosen |
| 10 | | from the employing class, and the other shall
be a |
| 11 | | representative citizen not identified with either the |
| 12 | | employing or
employee class and each Appointed members of a |
| 13 | | board of fire commissioners shall possess the qualifications |
| 14 | | required of other
officers of the fire protection district and |
| 15 | | by Section 16.02 of this Act, shall take oath, or affirmation,
|
| 16 | | of office, give bond, and shall be subject to removal from |
| 17 | | office, in the
same manner as other appointive officers of the |
| 18 | | fire protection district
and consistent with the provisions of |
| 19 | | Section 16.02 hereof. |
| 20 | | No more than 2 members of the board shall belong to the |
| 21 | | same political party existing in the municipality at the time |
| 22 | | of the appointments and as defined in Section 10-2 of the |
| 23 | | Election Code. If only 1 or no political party exists in the |
