2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1307 as follows:
 


3on page 1, line 5, after "26-2", by inserting "and by adding 
4Section 34-18.27a"; and
 


5on page 2, lines 2 and 3, by deleting ", including a school 
6district organized under Article 34 of this Code,"; and
 


7on page 2, line 4, by replacing "or older" with "on or before 
8September 1"; and
 


9on page 2, line 11, after "5", by inserting "(on or before 
10September 1)"; and
 


11on page 9, immediately below line 1, by inserting the

1    "(105 ILCS 5/34-18.27a new)
2    Sec. 34-18.27a. Mandatory kindergarten.  Beginning with the 
32013-2014 school year, the board must establish kindergarten 
4for the instruction of children who are 5 years of age on or 
5before September 1. The board may elect to establish either 
6full-day or half-day attendance for kindergarten.".
