| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 224 by replacing |
| 3 | | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | | "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
| 5 | | Uniform Racial Classification Act.
|
| 6 | | Section 5. Uniform racial classification. Notwithstanding |
| 7 | | any other provision of law, except as otherwise required by |
| 8 | | federal law or regulation, whenever a State agency is required |
| 9 | | by law to compile or report statistical data using racial or |
| 10 | | ethnic classifications, that State agency shall use the same |
| 11 | | classifications adopted by the United States Census Bureau. |
| 12 | | For the purposes of this Act, "State agency" means the |
| 13 | | offices of the constitutional officers identified in Article V |
| 14 | | of the Illinois Constitution, executive agencies, and |
| 15 | | departments, boards, commissions, and authorities under the |
| 16 | | Governor.
