HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Lindblom Technical High School Class of 1969 is celebrating their 45th reunion on November 7-9, 2014 at the Holiday Inn in Matteson and have asked the Classes of 1967 and 1968 to join them for a combined reunion weekend; and

WHEREAS, Lindblom Technical High School is a public 4-year selective enrollment high school located in the West Englewood neighborhood on the south side of Chicago; the school, originally constructed in 1919 and named Lindblom Technical High School, is named for Robert Lindblom, a 19th-century Swedish-born trader on the Chicago Board of Trade; and

WHEREAS, Lindblom Technical High School later developed curricula to prepare students for college and became known as Lindblom College Prep High School; on June 9, 2010, the Chicago City Council approved the designation of the Lindblom Building as a Chicago landmark by the Commission on Chicago Landmarks; and

WHEREAS, The Lindblom Technical High School Class of 1969 reunion committee has been together since 1993 and has successfully organized their high school reunions every 5 years; the classes of 1967 and 1968 organized a successful combined reunion in 2007; there are over 1,000 classmates among the 3 classes; and

WHEREAS, The graduates of the combined classes have gone on to become educators, university administrators, doctors, lawyers, elected officials, television producers, entertainers, business owners, architects, engineers, and veterans of the armed forces; and

WHEREAS, A love of their school, a personal and collective sense of accomplishment and service to others, and an undying love for their classmates makes the bond of all Lindblom graduates both unique and lasting; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Lindblom Technical High School Class of 1969 on the occasion of their 45th high school reunion and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lindblom Technical High School Class of 1969 as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
