HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of  Joanna 
4Sojka; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Joanna Sojka attended Northwestern University, 
6where she studied economics, political science, and 
7international studies and earned her Master of Science in 
8Administration and Social Policy; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Joanna Sojka was employed as Coordinator of 
10Business and Financial Services at the University of Illinois 
11at Chicago; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Joanna Sojka was elected to serve as the 7th Ward 
13Alderman in Des Plaines in May of 2013; as Alderman, she served 
14as Chair of the Public Works Committee, Vice-Chair of the 
15Community Services Committee, and member of the Building Codes 
16Committee; she also served as City Liaison of the Board of 
17Trustees History Center; and

  
 
18    WHEREAS, As Alderman, Joanna Sojka was well known by her 
19peers and constituents for her enthusiasm, her vast community 
20and professional knowledge, and her great dedication to Des 
21Plaines' 7th Ward and its diverse residents; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of 
4Joanna Sojka; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to the family of Joanna Sojka as an expression of our 
7sympathy.
