HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Bishop Embra R. 
4Patterson, Jr. on being the first Church of God in Christ 
5Bishop in the City of Peoria; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Bishop Patterson is the founding Pastor of Kingdom 
7Temple Church of God in Christ, and President of the Kingdom 
8Temple Outreach Ministries, Inc. in Peoria; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Bishop Patterson has been involved in many Peoria 
10community civic organizations over the last 38 years including, 
11the Peoria City Beautiful Council, the Peoria District 150 
12Advisory Board, the Peoria Race Relations Commission, the 
13Peoria Chamber of Commerce, the Illinois Black Chamber of 
14Commerce Planning Committee, the Peoria Black Chamber of 
15Commerce Board Chairman, and the Peoria Area Conventions and 
16Visitors Bureau; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, In 2013, Bishop Patterson retired after 35 years 
18of service with Ameren Illinois, formerly the Central Illinois 
19Light Company, progressing through various levels of 
20responsibility; he was consecrated the Jurisdictional Bishop 
21of the Southern Illinois Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the 
22Church of God In Christ, Inc. in November 2013; and

1    WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of his appointment will be 
2held on July 18, 2014 at the Embassy Suites and Conference 
3Center in East Peoria; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate Bishop Embra R. Patterson, Jr. on being the 
7first Church of God in Christ Bishop in the City of Peoria; and 
8be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Bishop Patterson as an expression of our esteem 
11and respect.
