|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Veterans have served valiantly and honorably in |
| 3 | | defense of the United States and
have put their lives on the |
| 4 | | line in order to defend America's beliefs and freedoms; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Veterans' Day is a National holiday held every |
| 6 | | year on November 11th and honors
the people who have served as |
| 7 | | a part of any branch of the United States Armed Forces in |
| 8 | | defense
of the United States of America, which allows the |
| 9 | | freedom and liberty we practice every day; therefore, be it
|
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 11 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 12 | | in order to educate the students of Illinois about the |
| 13 | | sacrifices made for freedom on
behalf of the country and the |
| 14 | | values on which this country was founded, we encourage each |
| 15 | | school year
during the week in which Veterans' Day occurs, that |
| 16 | | all students in kindergarten through eighth
grade attend an |
| 17 | | assembly during the school day to honor the history and |
| 18 | | importance of Veterans'
Day; and be it further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That school districts are encouraged to consult |
| 20 | | with local veterans' groups on the
content of the assembly; and |
| 21 | | be it further
