HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Antioch Community 
4High School on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its 
5founding; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Antioch Community High School is located in 
7Community High School District 117, which was established in 
81915 with plans immediately made for the creation of the high 
9school; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Antioch Township Community High School, as it was 
11known then, was dedicated on March 24, 1916 and 6 students 
12graduated in the initial class in June; high school classes 
13were previously offered at the Antioch Grade School, and high 
14school diplomas were awarded as far back as 1898; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, In order to accommodate the growing enrollment, 
16additions to the school to increase capacity were made in 1927, 
171953, 1962, and 1972; continued growth necessitated the 
18demolition of the 1915 and 1927 structures; 2 new additions, a 
19north wing extension with art, science, and applied technology 
20areas, and an administrative office and media center complex 
21opened in 1999; by 2004, more than 2,200 students were 
22attending Antioch Community High School; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate Antioch Community High School on its 100th 
4anniversary and wish them many more years of success; and be it 
5further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Antioch Community High School as an expression of 
8our esteem and respect.
