| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased
congratulate Rosalind L. Wells for | ||||||
| 4 | her 35 years of service
to the Southwestern Illinois Central | ||||||
| 5 | Labor Council AFL-CIO in Saint Clair
County, Monroe County, and | ||||||
| 6 | Washington County; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Southwestern Illinois Central Labor Council | ||||||
| 8 | AFL-CIO
serves working families, communities, and youth; it | ||||||
| 9 | honors union brothers and sisters in their work and dedication | ||||||
| 10 | to unionism and for their contributions to the good and welfare | ||||||
| 11 | of the community through their
participation in voluntary | ||||||
| 12 | social, civic, religious, and educational activities; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Wells is a life-long resident of the city | ||||||
| 14 | of East Saint Louis; she attended the East Saint Louis public | ||||||
| 15 | school system, Southern Illinois University, and Maryville | ||||||
| 16 | College; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Wells has served the members of the East | ||||||
| 18 | Saint Louis Federation of Teachers Local #1220 (Illinois | ||||||
| 19 | Federation of Teachers/American Federation of Teachers) | ||||||
| 20 | AFL-CIO for over 35 consecutive years as First Vice-President, | ||||||
| 21 | Executive Council Member, Grievance Chairperson, Negotiation | ||||||
| 22 | Team Member, Building Representative, and union lobbyist, as | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | well as a United Way member, and Salvation Army annual bell | ||||||
| 2 | ringer; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Wells has been an educational leader and | ||||||
| 4 | classroom teacher in high school, junior high school, and | ||||||
| 5 | elementary school; she has coached junior high school girls | ||||||
| 6 | basketball and received accolades for services rendered to the | ||||||
| 7 | National Beta Society; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Wells has been an officer, usher ministry | ||||||
| 9 | member, youth choir director, Girl Scout leader, and member of | ||||||
| 10 | the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of East Saint Louis | ||||||
| 11 | for 30 years; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Wells is a member of Delta Sigma Theta | ||||||
| 13 | Sorority; she has been an active member, supporter, | ||||||
| 14 | participant, and volunteer for the Red Cross, senior citizen | ||||||
| 15 | activities, the American Cancer Society, the Multiple | ||||||
| 16 | Sclerosis Society, the National Association for the | ||||||
| 17 | Advancement of Colored People, the National Council of Negro | ||||||
| 18 | Women, and many other community service, civic, social, and | ||||||
| 19 | religious endeavours; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Wells was recognized in 2013 as the | ||||||
| 21 | George R. Badgley's Labor Woman of the Year by the Southwestern | ||||||
| 22 | Illinois Central Labor Council AFL-CIO at their annual awards | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | banquet and recognition program; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Wells serves a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 3 | integrity, and dedication for the labor unions and for the | ||||||
| 4 | State of Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 6 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 7 | we congratulate Rosalind L. Wells for her 35 years of service
| ||||||
| 8 | to the Southwestern Illinois Central Labor Council AFL-CIO; and | ||||||
| 9 | be it further
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to Rosalind Wells as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
