HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Russ Slinkard on 
4being the 2013 recipient of the Boy Scouts of America's 
5Distinguished Citizen Award; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Russ Slinkard, began his service to his community 
7with a successful career as a minister; he later worked for 
8Illinois Bell Telephone Company in marketing and public 
9affairs, the First National Bank of Joliet, and Three Rivers 
10Manufacturers Association; currently he serves as president & 
11CEO of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry; 
12under his vision and guidance, the chamber has celebrated and 
13achieved significant growth and success; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Russ Slinkard has volunteered thousands of hours 
15to community organizations including the United Way of Will 
16County, where he has been board president, campaign chair, and 
17a Board of Directors and Executive Committee member, the Center 
18for Economic Development, where he has served as a charter 
19board member for 11 years, and Silver Cross Hospital, where he 
20has served for over 24 years and is on the hospital's board of 
21trustees; and
  
 
22    WHEREAS, Russ Slinkard's commitment to others has been

1acknowledged numerous times throughout the years, the most 
2recent award being the Sangmeister Medal of Excellence awarded 
3by Silver Cross Hospital to a leading citizen recognized for 
4outstanding contributions to the common good of society; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Russ Slinkard has been married to Sara for 25 
6years; they have 3 children, Brian, Lisa, and Regina, 2 
7step-daughters, Shannon and Shelby, 4 grandchildren, and 4 
8step-grandchildren; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Russ Slinkard will be presented with the award at 
10a ceremonial dinner to take place on June 19, 2013, in Joliet; 
11therefore, be it
  
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
13NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
14we congratulate Russ Slinkard on being the 2013 recipient of 
15the Boy Scouts of America's Distinguished Citizen Award; and be 
16it further
  
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18presented to Russ Slinkard as an expression of our esteem and 
19respect.
