HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The freedom and security that citizens of the 
3United States and Illinois enjoy today are the direct result of 
4the blood shed and continued vigilance given by the United 
5States Armed Forces over the history of our great nation; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The sacrifices that such members of the United 
7States Armed Forces and the Illinois National Guard and of the 
8family members that support them, have preserved the liberties 
9that have enriched this nation making it unique in the world 
10community; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, We call upon all Illinoisans to remember those who 
12gave their lives in defense of freedom and to honor the men and 
13women of all our armed services who have served and are now 
14serving our country, together with their families; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The month of May was selected for this display of 
16patriotism because during May we celebrate Victory in Europe 
17Day, Military Spouse Day, Loyalty Day, Armed Forces Day/Week, 
18National Day of Prayer, Memorial Day, Navy Day, Army Day, and 
19Flag Day; therefore, be it
  
 

  
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
21NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we are pleased to designate the period of May 1 through May 31, 
22013, as a special time to show appreciation for our military 
3and we designate it as National Military Appreciation Month in 
4the State of Illinois.
