| 2 |     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of  | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate  United States Army Chief  | ||||||
| 4 | Warrant Officer Brian Beatty on the occasion of his retirement  | ||||||
| 5 | on November 16, 2012; and
   | ||||||
| 6 |     WHEREAS, Chief Brian Beatty enlisted with the United States  | ||||||
| 7 | Army on November 11, 1985; as a Signal Officer 255A  | ||||||
| 8 | (Information Services Technician), he managed the Army's  | ||||||
| 9 | network for the region at the 416th Theater Engineer Command in  | ||||||
| 10 | Darien; he has also worked as a civilian recruiter for the  | ||||||
| 11 | Army; and
   | ||||||
| 12 |     WHEREAS, Chief Brian Beatty has worked with the Military  | ||||||
| 13 | Funeral Honors Team since its inception in November of 1996; he  | ||||||
| 14 | began working at military funerals in 1986 while stationed at  | ||||||
| 15 | the Pentagon; he was subsequently attached to the 3rd Infantry  | ||||||
| 16 | Division, which operates Arlington Cemetery, and trained to  | ||||||
| 17 | serve on those details; in 1996, when Congress passed laws  | ||||||
| 18 | regarding military funerals, he was asked to train those who  | ||||||
| 19 | would perform them; in 2000, he was brought over to the 85th  | ||||||
| 20 | Division to perform military funeral honors; and
   | ||||||
| 21 |     WHEREAS, Chief Brian Beatty earned the Parachutist,  | ||||||
| 22 | Freefall, and Drill Sergeant Badges, as well as the Ranger Tab,  | ||||||
|

| 
 | |||||||
| 1 | for his meritorious service; he was also the recipient of  | ||||||
| 2 | multiple military awards in his many years of military service;  | ||||||
| 3 | and
   | ||||||
| 4 |     WHEREAS, Chief Brian Beatty is a member of numerous civic  | ||||||
| 5 | organizations; he is a Prince Hall Mason, a Scottish Rite Mason  | ||||||
| 6 | (Sublime Prince 32nd Degree), and a York Rite Mason (Sir  | ||||||
| 7 | Knight); he is a member of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order  | ||||||
| 8 | Nobles of the Mystic Shrine and the Order of the Eastern Star;  | ||||||
| 9 | he is a teacher of Chinese martial arts at the Chicago Wushu  | ||||||
| 10 | Guan Kung Fu Academy and has 7 black belts and 4 black sashes;  | ||||||
| 11 | he is a Past Commander of V.F.W. Post 7186; he is also a member  | ||||||
| 12 | of American Legion Post 42 and Christ Temple Missionary Baptist  | ||||||
| 13 | Church in Evanston; and
   | ||||||
| 14 |     WHEREAS, Chief Brian Beatty serves as a model of hard work,  | ||||||
| 15 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of  | ||||||
| 16 | Illinois; therefore, be it
   | ||||||
| 17 |     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE  | ||||||
| 18 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that  | ||||||
| 19 | we congratulate United States Army Chief Warrant Officer Brian  | ||||||
| 20 | Beatty on the occasion of his retirement and wish him continued  | ||||||
| 21 | success and happiness in the future; and be it further
   | ||||||
| 22 |     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be  | ||||||

| 1 | presented to Chief Brian Beatty as a symbol of our esteem and  | ||||||
