AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2754 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2754 as follows:


 
3on page 1, line 5, by replacing "Section 5.826" with "Sections 
45.826 and 5.827"; and
 
5on page 1, below line 7, by inserting the following:
 
6    "(30 ILCS 105/5.827 new)
7    Sec. 5.827. The Curing Childhood Cancer Fund."; and
 
8on page 1, line 9, by replacing "Section 3-699" with "Sections 
93-699 and 3-699.1"; and
 
10on page 3, below line 6, by inserting the following:
 
11    "(625 ILCS 5/3-699.1 new)
12    Sec. 3-699.1. Curing Childhood Cancer Plates.

1    (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and 
2applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may 
3issue special registration plates designated as Curing 
4Childhood  Cancer license plates.
    The special plates issued 
5under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles 
6of the first division or motor vehicles of the second division 
7weighing not more than 8,000 pounds.
    Plates issued under this 
8Section shall expire according to the multi-year procedure 
9established by Section 3-414.1 of this Code.
10    (b) The design and color of the special plates shall be 
11wholly within the discretion of the Secretary. Appropriate 
12documentation, as determined by the Secretary, shall accompany 
13each application. 
14    (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a 
15$65 fee for original issuance in addition to the appropriate 
16registration fee. Of this fee, $50 shall be deposited into the 
17Curing Childhood Cancer Fund and $15 shall be deposited into 
18the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund, to be used 
19by the Secretary to help defray the administrative processing 
20costs.
    For each registration renewal period, a $52 fee, in 
21addition to the appropriate registration fee, shall be charged. 
22Of this fee, $50 shall be deposited into the Curing Childhood 
23Cancer  Fund and $2 shall be deposited into the Secretary of 
24State Special License Plate Fund. 
25    (d) The Curing Childhood Cancer Fund is created as a 
26special fund in the State treasury. All money in the Curing

1Childhood Cancer Fund shall be paid, subject to appropriation 
2by the General Assembly and distribution by the Secretary, in 
3equal share as grants to the St. Jude Children's Research 
4Hospital and the Children's Oncology Group for the purpose of 
5funding scientific research on cancer.".
