| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Adoption Act is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 4 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (750 ILCS 50/4) (from Ch. 40, par. 1505)

| 7 | | Sec. 4. Jurisdiction and venue. An adoption proceeding may |
| 8 | | be commenced in the
the circuit court of the
county in which |
| 9 | | petitioners reside, or the county in which the person to be
|
| 10 | | adopted resides, or was born, or the county in which the |
| 11 | | parents of such
person reside, provided, however, if an agency |
| 12 | | has acquired the custody and
control of a child and such agency |
| 13 | | is authorized to consent to the adoption
of such child, the |
| 14 | | proceeding may be commenced in any county, and provided
further |
| 15 | | that if a guardian of the person of such child has been |
| 16 | | appointed
by a court of competent jurisdiction, the proceeding |
| 17 | | may be commenced in
any county. |
