| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of George W. Tortorella of Champaign, |
| 4 | | formerly of Waukegan and Morton Grove, who passed away on |
| 5 | | February 20, 2012; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, He was born September 30, 1919, in Chicago, son of |
| 7 | | the late James and Anna (Nierzwicki) Tortorella; he graduated |
| 8 | | from Lane Tech in Chicago; he married Helen Perala in Chicago; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, They moved to Ironwood, Michigan, where they built |
| 11 | | and managed the Blue Cloud Motel on U.S. 2 for several years; |
| 12 | | they then moved to Waukegan, and Morton Grove, where he |
| 13 | | returned to his trade as a tool and die maker; he later moved |
| 14 | | to Mokelumne Hill, California, and then Sunflower, Arizona, |
| 15 | | where he cultivated many friends and hobbies, one of them being |
| 16 | | the chief ravioli maker for gatherings and parties; he then |
| 17 | | moved to Champaign and spent several years at the Champaign |
| 18 | | County Nursing Home, where he was well taken care of by many |
| 19 | | caregivers and nurses; and

| 20 | | WHEREAS, He was one of the most optimistic people, upbeat |
| 21 | | and encouraging; he always saw the best in all people and all |
| 22 | | situations; he loved to joke and had a million favorite |
