AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1971




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1971 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:


 
4    "Section 5. The Mechanics Lien Act is amended  by changing 
5Section 6 as follows:
 



6    (770 ILCS 60/6)  (from Ch. 82, par. 6)



7    Sec. 6. 
In no event shall it be necessary to fix or 
8stipulate in any
contract a time for the completion or a time 
9for payment in order to obtain
a lien under this act, provided, 
10that the work is done or material
furnished  within three years 
11from the commencement of said work or the
commencement of 
12furnishing said material, but if  the work is not done within 3 
13years from the commencement of the work or the material is not 
14furnished within 3 years from the commencement of the 
15furnishing of the material, then a lien may be obtained under 
16this Act within one year after the work is done or after the

1material is completely furnished, whichever is later.

3    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
