HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Peter Dogiakos on receiving the 2010 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Chicago Botanic Garden; and

WHEREAS, Before serving more than 4,400 hours as a volunteer at the Botanic Garden, he enjoyed a productive and successful career in sales management; he lives in Morton Grove and some of his favorite hobbies include fishing, bird watching, and gardening; and

WHEREAS, He is a people person, known for his dependability and his "can do" attitude; he is deeply respected by his volunteer teammates and the Garden staff, and has proven himself to be a trusted leader; the Chicago Botanic Garden staff includes him in the training of new volunteers in the Buehler Enabling Garden, where he also serves as a volunteer team leader; and

WHEREAS, He has volunteered to assist at several popular Garden events including HallowFest and Wonderland Express; he is also known for being thoughtful, kind, and compassionate with everyone with whom he interacts; and

WHEREAS, He eagerly engages in conversations with visitors to the Buehler Enabling Garden, taking care to point out special features, beautiful birds, and unique plantings that he finds especially interesting; he takes great pride in both maintaining the garden as well as ensuring that the bird feeders in the garden are always properly stocked for the many birds; and

WHEREAS, He received the award at a special ceremony held in June of 2011 at the Botanic Garden; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Peter Dogiakos on receiving the 2010 Volunteer of the Year Award and thank him for his dedication to the Chicago Botanic Garden; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Peter Dogiakos as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
