| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Doug Knight for |
| 4 | | receiving the "2011 Most Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator |
| 5 | | Award" from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The Knight family has been providing central |
| 8 | | Illinois families with enjoyment and recreational |
| 9 | | opportunities since 1952; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Nearly a decade ago, Doug Knight hosted his first |
| 11 | | blood drive at Knight's Action Park and Caribbean Water |
| 12 | | Adventure; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Doug Knight continued to host blood drives |
| 14 | | annually over the past decade, in which 477 people have |
| 15 | | presented to donate blood, including 115 people who had never |
| 16 | | donated before; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Doug Knight raises awareness of the critical need |
| 18 | | for blood every year throughout central Illinois with a |
| 19 | | promotional radio campaign for his blood drives, as well as two |
| 20 | | live remote broadcasts during the day of the drive; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Doug Knight also set up a special section on his |
| 2 | | blood drives on the Knight's Action Park and Caribbean Water |
| 3 | | Adventure website and provides park passes for all presenting |
| 4 | | donors; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Doug Knight holds his major drive at the beginning |
| 6 | | of summer to generate enthusiasm for blood donation during the |
| 7 | | summer months, when the blood supply decreases due to summer |
| 8 | | breaks, vacations, and increased travel; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, In 2011, the Central Illinois Community Blood |
| 10 | | Center nominated Doug Knight as the "Most Innovative Blood |
| 11 | | Drive Coordinator" in a state-wide competition hosted by the |
| 12 | | Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it
|
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 14 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 15 | | we congratulate Doug Knight for receiving the "2011 Most |
| 16 | | Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator Award" and commend him for |
| 17 | | his commitment to insuring a healthy blood supply in the |
| 18 | | community; and be it further
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution is |
| 20 | | presented to Doug Knight as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
