| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Forest Park Mayor |
| 4 | | Anthony Calderone on being named the recipient of the Donald E. |
| 5 | | Stephens Award; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Donald E. Stephens Award honors the late |
| 7 | | Rosemont Mayor Donald E. Stephens and is awarded to an |
| 8 | | individual who has shown great vision and leadership while |
| 9 | | serving as a local government official; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, "Mayor Calderone epitomizes the notions of |
| 11 | | leadership and commitment. We are all better public servants |
| 12 | | for having had Anthony Calderone touch our lives." Richard F. |
| 13 | | Pellegrino; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Calderone has served Forest Park as its |
| 15 | | Mayor since 1999; he was first elected as Forest Park |
| 16 | | Commissioner in 1991 after having served as a Fire and Police |
| 17 | | Commissioner and volunteering 14 years as an Auxiliary Police |
| 18 | | Officer; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Forest Park, Mayor |
| 20 | | Calderone has a long track record of public service and a |
| 21 | | commitment to the Village of Forest Park, its residents, |
|

| 1 | | businesses, and organizations; among the many organizations to |
| 2 | | which he has given service are: St. Bernardine Parish, Forest |
| 3 | | Park Little League, West Suburban Senior Services (formerly |
| 4 | | Proviso Council on Aging), Proviso Municipal League, West |
| 5 | | Central Municipal Conference (past President), Oak Leyden |
| 6 | | Developmental Services, Kiwanis International, Columbian Club, |
| 7 | | and the Lions Club; he is also a Freemason and the former |
| 8 | | Lieutenant Governor of Division #6, Kiwanis International; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Calderone has served over 30 years in the |
| 10 | | alarm and security industry and owns and operates Illinois |
| 11 | | Alarm Service in Forest Park; he has held a variety of posts |
| 12 | | with these professional organizations: the National Burglar & |
| 13 | | Fire Alarm Association, the Illinois Electronic Security |
| 14 | | Association, the Illinois Fire Inspectors Association, the |
| 15 | | American Society of Industrial Security, the Alarm Industry |
| 16 | | Research and Education Foundation, and the Electronic Security |
| 17 | | Association; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, As Mayor, Anthony Calderone has overseen the |
| 19 | | renaissance of Forest Park, including the downtown district |
| 20 | | along Madison Street; Forest Park received the coveted |
| 21 | | Governor's Home Town Award plus numerous Illinois Main Street |
| 22 | | Awards;
and
|
| 23 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Calderone's public service achievements |

| 1 | | have been recognized by such organizations as the Department of |
| 2 | | the Army, the United Way, Miserecordia, the Save a Life |
| 3 | | Foundation, Illinois Order Sons of Italy, the Illinois Crime |
| 4 | | Commission, the Triton College Foundation, the Italian |
| 5 | | American Executives of Transportation, and Seguin Services |
| 6 | | Inc.; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, He is married to Lois; they have 2 adult children, |
| 8 | | Augustino and Anthony Jr. (Sarah Beth); therefore, be it
|
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 10 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 11 | | we congratulate Mayor Anthony Calderone on receiving the |
| 12 | | Stephens Award and wish him the best in all his future |
| 13 | | endeavors; and be it further

| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 15 | | presented to Mayor Anthony Calderone as a symbol of our respect |
| 16 | | and esteem.
